My Christmas Present

the door to be used as the footboard
The headboardthe bed pre-paint
The craftsman at work
AND......the finished product!
I have wanted Justin to make me a bed for the past few years but he claimed he never had the space or the time. So a few months ago I saw this awesome idea where you use old doors for a headboard and footboard. I told Justin I wanted him to help me but had a hard time finding old doors. I had given up until I talked to my sister-in-law one day and she said they might have some old doors in an old cabin on their property. Lucky for me there was and we traded for some work Justin had done. Since Justin had the time he decided the bed could be my present this year. Now my idea was only the beginning of this bed, Justin went well beyond my dreams and made this incredible bed. I love it! Finally, after 10 years of marriage we actually have a bed and not just a mattress set. Now maybe in another 10 years I can get some new luxurios bedding and my bedroom will become quite the honeymoon suite!!

It takes ten years? I've been wanting a log bed for well, 4.5 years. I guess I've got a ways to go. Sad day. :) Your bed looks awesome! I didn't know Justin had such skills with a saw - oh wait, yeah I did. :) He did work with my dad for forever!

It's gorgeous! Your hubby does awesome work. I love how it looks with the quilt and the red wall behind it. I think I may be a little jealous :)
