The cheeseball!
The first bite
The yummy cake
And..... All finished!Yesterday was Lukes birthday, I can't believe that he is already one. It is definitely bittersweet. It is so fun to watch my children grow but sad when it is the ending of a phase that has lasted 8 years of our marriage. I try to enjoy the moment that the kids are each in but it is sad to think that there may not be anymore babies in our family. It is so wonderful to bring a new baby into this world and see it grow but as Justin has so often informed me, "You can't just keep having babies! It's time to focus on the ones we have and enjoy raising them." Which is so true and it's not that I just want to keep having babies because I think I would loose my mind but there is just something about that motherly instinct that Heavenly Father has placed in us. I think it is going to take a long time to get over the feelings of pregnancy, labor & delivery, nursing, and just having a baby wrapped in my arms, they are all just so empowering and wonderful. Justin really doesn't understand the feelings I have about this, I think only a mother can understand, but I do feel so so blessed to have four amazing children sent to me by our Heavenly Father. They are all such a joy and bring such meaning to my life. I would never trade being a mother for all the riches of the world! Okay, enough of that. Now, as for Luke, he is turning into such a ham! As you can see from the pictures he now has this cheesy grin he gives anytime I try to take a picture. He is so much fun and is turning into quite the little boy. Luke loves to play with his sibling and is doing better at keeping up, he now runs, or tries to anyway. He also has 7 teeth. I think he weighs about 24 pounds and gives me a workout with all the lifting. We love him dearly and are grateful that he has blessed our family with his presence! Happy Birthday Lucas!

Happy Birthday!! I can't believe he is 1 already...and that Eve is right behind him. Oh my goodness! I understand what you mean about the motherly instinct. I still love laying down with Eve and nursing her and just last night I watched my birth video and it was amazing!
I love you! I love Luke too! Happy birthday to the big boy!
Such a cute cake, Rachel! I'm always impressed. And I REALLY cannot believe it's already been a year!
Wow! Happy 1st B-day! I am amazed he is one already. Time flies. You always do such a great job on your cakes. I love his little cheesy smile when he is getting his cake. Cute cute!

that year went fast wow, so i have decide i want you to teach me how the heck you do these great cakesit should be a day making cakes i would love that
You truly are a great mother! I don't think guys are wired to understand women's feelings about having children. I think those feelings (being empowered and wonderful) are what compensates for all the crap women have to go through in getting the children here! And yet through all that crap, we do it again and again because there is no greater gift than a beautiful baby that will one day grow up and carry on your family legacy.
Happy Birthday Luke!!
I can't believe he's already 1. It doesn't seem like it has been a year. Man how time flies. I forgot to send a card. Sorry. Hope you guys had fun. Love you guys.
Happy birthday Luke! He's so cute, Rach!
I can totally sympathize with your feelings about bringing babies into the world. I've tried to explain it to Dan and he doesn't quite get it either. I'm glad I'm not the only one! We've got great kids and need to enjoy every moment of it!
