Mini Mountain Man Rendezvous~2011

Sniffing something, we can't remember what it was called but it's the stinky stuff that beavers use to mark their territory, it was NASTY!!

This was Grub, he is so cool. We got to see him at the real rendezvous we went to. In real life he is a cop. He got his mountain man name because he is a great cook!
Listening to Grub's stories inside his wall tent.

Janie trying her hand at grinding some corn.

Flying Bear, Little Buck, and Curly

Curly is the older one, he makes beautiful black powder rifles out of Curly Maple. That is where he got his mountain man name, Curly.

I had the great opportunity of going with Janie's 4th grade class to a mini mountain man rendezvous last Spring. In the 4th grade the kids learn about Idaho History and the early settlers and mountain men that came to Idaho. It was so fun to go, I loved hearing and seeing what these mountain men and women had to say and show. There is an actual group of people that have all their mountain men equipment and are in a "club." They are all given a mountain man name by one of the elders and they travel around to different rendezvous at different times of the year. I would LOVE to be a part of it, my husband doesn't think it would be as fun as I do. Anyway, you go and spend the week or whatever at the rendezvous that you want to go to and you sell your crafts for just have your tents set up and participate in all the fun activities. There is one over in Wyoming that I am hoping we can go to next summer. We went to a local one in June and got to see some of the men that Janie and I had met at the mini rendezvous. It was great!! I can't wait to go again!
