Broken Legs, Broken Legs

The "boot"
He seems to be in good spirits.Had to get a close up, he got a haircut yesterday
and I cut more of those curly Q's off that he has.
None of my siblings or I ever had a major broken bone, no arms or legs were ever broken at our house growing up so what is our deal? We have now, officially, had two broken legs at our house and my kids are only in the beginning of their lives!!! Two weeks ago on Saturday Janie was being the good sister that she is and took Luke down the slide. I didn't witness this but I guess as she was going down with him his leg got caught and bent back. For two days after that he wouldn't even walk, he resorted to crawling everywhere. Monday morning I took him in for an x-ray. The doctor said there may be a hairline fracture but that he wouldn't cast it then, just to watch him for the next couple of days. Luke did start to walk within a day or two but with a heavy limp. And anytime someone would bump it he would scream. I kept putting off going to see the orthopedist thinking maybe he was getting better. Over Memorial Day he seemed to be doing better but then had a few times when he would just be screaming in pain until I gave him the next dose of Motrin. After I finally got the appointment we were still debating whether or not to see another doctor, I didn't want to be paying hundreds of dollars for them to tell me just to watch him some more. Well, I'm glad I went in. The doctor took his own x-ray and showed me where there is new bone growth. He said that Luke has a toddler fracture and gave me a walking boot for Luke to wear. This is mostly for protection from him really hurting it and making a clean break which would require a hard cast. So we get to put up with the boot for a couple of weeks and then go from there. Poor little guy, he is doing pretty well with the boot but gets frustrated. I have been carrying him around a lot more lately!!
