The kids posing with the swords Justin carved for them.

Justin really got into it, in fact, he didn't think they were up to his standards so when we got home he used his grinder to perfect them. They had little finger grooves and everything. They all loved them but especially Jack. He had that sword by his side for at least a week after we got back. He couldn't let it out of his sight, he even slept with it in his bed. He is quite the Jack!!

Justin carved pistols for the boys too.

The swords and pistols!

Poor Luke had to stay in the camper with mommy.

PLEASE......Let me out!

We were passing things through the screen door so we didn't have to keep moving Luke, he enjoyed watching what the kids were doing outside.

Isn't he just adorable! I think so!

That is Jacks green chair and if you try to take it or sit in it you better be ready for a fight!!
Janie had an idea for Jusin to carve the kids something. Her dreams were a little lofty, at first she wanted something like a bear or wolf, she ended up with a sword, which she loved!
Jack still in his chair!
Nothing like the smell of a campfire burning!
So to finally post the last of the Labor Day pictures. We went camping in Island Park over the Labor Day weekend, it was wonderful! The place we were planning to camp was closed down because of some "managed burns," which is quite convenient during opening day of bow season don't you think! Justin was so mad because he wanted to show us where he hunts elk and we were going to camp where he has his hunting camp. It didn't work out so we ended up driving around, with the camper in tow, trying to find a spot which was a task considering what I said before about bow season. Anyway, we ended up in Targee Creek in an awesome spot right next to a creek. We took a little hike one day trying to find some Sage Chickens to shoot but to no avail. Then on Saturday we drove to West Yellowstone and took the kids to the Bear & Wolf Discovery Center. The kids loved it but if you are pro-hunting then you will see right through all the propaganda. We ended the day with dinner and a nice drive home. Sunday we skipped church (shhhhhh) and took an awesome drive over past Quake Lake then Hebgen Lake and then around to West Yellowstone again. It is a beautiful drive and awesome to see what the earthquake in 1959 did to the side of the mountain to create Quake Lake. Monday we slept in and had a nice breakfast then broke camp and headed home. The weather wasn't the greatest, it rained two of the nights and was quite chilly but we had a great time. Thank goodness for campers with working heaters! I didn't want to come home!

I didn't realize how red Luke's hair is until I saw that picture of the back of his head! I thought his hair was blond like Jack's! Two red-heads. Good luck with that! :)
I am so jealous! Island Park is one of our favorite places in the whole world. I also loved the vids of Lucas--I can't believe how the time flies. It seems like my kids always thinned out quickly once they started to crawl, which made me sad.
That looks like so much fun. I love camping memories with my family, there is nothing better. Your kids will remember that stuff forever.
Looks like so much fun. It is sad to me to think that the camping season is coming to a guick end. I think it would be a blast to get a group of us outdoorsy (is that a word) chics and go! Wouldn't that just be so much fun?
Rachel- book club was fun. Thanks for hosting it! I could just sit and visit with you all day - or all night - obviously. Maybe if we got together more often we wouldn't have to talk so much. Or maybe not. :)
I am glad you guys had such a great weekend. I wish it was cool out here. There is no way we could have gone camping and had a campfire because it is still too hot.
I love the guns and swords too.
And, Luke is so cute...as are all the kids. Did Jack get a haircut?
What a fun weekend! I can't even get Dan to camp in the backyard with the kids and he still claims he likes camping. Go figure.
That looks like so much fun and such a beautiful area. I'm glad you got to enjoy it!
How fun that you guys go on so many family outings together and what a cool Dad to carve guns and swords for his kids! Your kids are so cute!
Wow, I didn't know Justin was so skilled! Did all the kids make it home injury-free with all those weapons? Sounds like a great camping trip. Luke is getting HUGE!
