Luke's Birthday 2011

Choppin' wood just like Dad! My baby turned 3 on the 18th of January. I cannot believe where the time has gone. It was a fun day trying to get the cake made and running errands. By the time we got home and I was making dinner the birthday boy fell asleep on the couch. I thought for sure he was out for the night and I wasn't about to wake him up just to make him eat cake. I figured we could do it the next day, he wasn't going to know the difference. Luke did wake up right as we were about to eat dinner so we ate and then sang happy birthday to our little man. He was so excited to open his present, he already knew what it was because he had accidentally seen it a few days earlier but he was excited none the less. He loved his farm cake and made sure we had horses and tractors with it. Luke is such a joy to have in our family. He is definitely all boy. Every morning when it is time to get dressed he makes sure he has his cowboy pants (Wranglers) and cowboy shirt (any button up or snap up shirt). He can't go without those. And then there is his trusty sword,
it's the blue one in the picture. Luke cannot function without that sword on his hip. It has been taped together several times as it's a very cheap carnival type plastic sword. He won it at an arcade when Grandma and Grandpa Neilson were down the first part of December. We don't go a day without some kind of melt down because Luke can't find his sword. One of the reasons he loves it so much is because one of his favorite movies right now is Narnia, he is Peter and Jack is Edmond or the other way around. Luke has to fight all the bad guys and how would he do that if he didn't have his sword? Luke always keeps us on our toes, he is full of energy and constantly jumping off of things. It seems like lately when he gets hurt I listen for that "I just broke my arm or leg cry." It seems inevitable that it's going to happen again in the near future. I hope not but we love Luke so much and are so grateful to have him a part of our family. We love you Lucas!!!
