Yellowstone

Luke chillin' in his carseat
Waiting for Old Faithful to blow
There she blows!
My HOT husband!
One of the many buffalo
There's the BIG one!
This bull was nice.
He was the one who was so aggressive,
hey, gotta protect your women
From this angle you can really see the rack
They literally just hang out here
Here's a little rag horn just hangin' out
This is the one that started charging towards us,
this was from inside the pickup, my camera was not zoomed!
Justin thinks this one must have had a butt whoopen'
because he was all alone with no cows around him.
The other bulls must have put him in his place.
During Spud Break we went camping in Island Park with our friends, Wade and Kristy Kaufman. It was cold but we had a great time. On Saturday we loaded everyone up and took off towards Yellowstone National Park. We, of course, had to go see Old Faithful and the Old Faithful Inn. The kids loved it and we saw lots of buffalo. Then we headed up to Mammoth Hot Springs at the north end of the park. Justin really wanted to see some elk and especially hear them whistle. We heard that Mammoth was the place to do that. So up we drove. Along the way we stopped and saw a pretty good sized heard bull and his harem, we watched them for a while and then kept on our way. So as we are just getting to Mammoth I see all these elk in peoples yards. Now Mammoth is the main headquarters for Yellowstone, that's were the majority of the employees live. It's almost like a ghost town because there are lots of old homes and buildings but you don't see the people that inhabit them. All you see are elk and park officials in the streets. It was so strange to see all these elk just hangin' out on the lawn and stuff. We saw a really nice bull that, I guess, is pretty aggressive. There are park officials everywhere with their walkie-talkies making sure no one gets too close to the animals. In fact, one official told us that this big bull had had his antlers removed twice in previous years because he was a danger. Just in the previous two weeks since we had been there he had gored 37 vehicles, that's 37!!! Holy cow! Anyway, it was
awesome to see all the elk. Oh, one more thing. As we were watching this huge bull another smaller bull came running towards us, everyone scattered, Justin herded all the kids with us towards the pickup and we hurried and got in. Justin was blocking us with the two passenger side doors in case the bull came any closer. I think Kristy was freaked out because we had Brooke with us. They were headed to their car before the bull got closer so when is came they scattered to another area and she couldn't find Brooke. It was exciting!!! We also got to see them whistle right in front of us. It was so cool.
